
Huqiu (Tiger Hill)
Just 15 minutes from Regalia Suzhou. The Tiger Hill Pagoda is the 2nd known leaning tower after the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. The 36-meter-tall Huqiu (Tiger Hill) has been around for more than 2,500 years. This majestic pagoda still stands outside the lumen Gate to the north west of Suzhou. It was where the King of the State of Wu (a small state in the Spring and Autumn Periods over thousands of years ago) Fu Chai, buried his father-Helu along with 3,000 swords. Legend has it that on the third day after the burial, a white tiger appeared to guard the tomb, hence the name of the hill.
Hanshan Temple
One of the most famous temples in Chinese history that has been around for over 5,000 yrs ago. It prides on its magnificent bell that rings until today. Every year on New Year's Eve in China's lunar calendar, the bell is tolled to pray for the happiness and safety of the coming New Year. This festival attracts thousands of tourists both at home and abroad.
Suzhou Museum
Designed by world renowned architect, Mr. Leoh Ming Pei. The Museum opened last October of 2006. It features rich treasures of the 2,500 year old City of Suzhou. The museum main exhibits are bronzes and jades from between 2,500 B.C. to 500 B.C. excavated from around Suzhou. The building itself is inspired by traditional Suzhou architecture with a touch of modern design.
Garden of the Master of the Nets
The smallest but the most impressive among the famous residential gardens of Suzhou. Constructed in accordance with the strict regulations of feudalism, they are magnificent buildings with extraordinary furnishing and interior decoration. Every hall has a door or walk-way leading to the garden. It is a typical example of combining living quarters with a landscape garden in Suzhou. This architectural marvel creates a mood of tranquility and harmony that make this humble garden one of the world’s most unique spaces.
Suzhou Amusement Park
If you've overdosed on gardens, temples, and classical culture, the perfect interlude might just be an afternoon of fun at China's best amusement park, the Suzhou Amusement Land. Locally known as "China's Disney World," is modeled on leading Western amusement parks. Designed and laid with a great attention to detail, the park's whimsical architecture is the setting for classic fairground amusements like carousels, games, and even cotton candy! The park also boasts two international standard steel frame roller coasters - one even with an inverted ride. The park also includes a large water park, complete with wave pools, rafting, a tangle of water slides of all types - all making it best way to beat the summer heat! Many families traveling with children often include the park on their itineraries.
Humble Administrator's Garden
Covering 51,950 m2, the Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest of all classical gardens in Suzhou. The Humble administrator's Garden boasts altogether 48 different buildings, 101 parallel couplets and door plate aux, 40 stelae, 21 precious old trees, namely Wistaria, Sabina chincherinchee, pterocaulous stenophyllous,etc.falling into 13 different catalogues, and over 700 bonsai (potted landscape) kept in the Bonsai Garden in the western part of the garden, representing the Suzhou style bonsai, one of the four leading bonsai styles in china. This magnificent garden is over 700 years old.
Zhouzhuang Water Village
About 40-minute drive east of Suzhou or one hour drive west of Shanghai, the "Paris of the Orient", lies Zhouzhuang, the "Venice of the Orient", close and small enough for a quick day trip from Suzhou or Shanghai. The 900 year old town feels like you're walking in another time. Although there are other towns in China such as Tongli, dissected by streams, rivers and canals, Zhouzhuang is the most famous such "water town" nowadays.
